Thank You, Body | Meditation

Your body is the home you live in every day, and it deserves some love. Cultivating a kind and positive relationship with our bodies is an important part of self-care, no matter what the current circumstances or challenges with it may be. Below, we are sharing a gratitude meditation dedicated to your body.

Ground

Find a quiet space where you can sit comfortably. Let your body relax into this moment and settle into a place of stillness. There’s nothing you need to do, nowhere you need to go. Just be here, now.

Breathe & Be Present

Begin by noticing your breath. Don’t try to change it—just observe it as it comes in and out, flowing naturally. Feel the rise and fall of your chest, the gentle expansion of your lungs, the cool feeling of air as you inhale and the warmth as you exhale. Take this moment to thank your breath for sustaining you.

Inhale... thank you, body, for this breath.
Exhale... thank you, body, for this release.

You are here, alive, breathing. This is a gift. Let yourself simply feel that gift for a moment.

Body Love

Now, gently bring your awareness to your body. Without judgment, simply notice how it feels. Start with your feet, and slowly move your attention up toward your calves, knees, thighs, hips and then waist. Thank your lower body for supporting you, taking you where you need to go.

On your next inhale, move your attention up your stomach, back, chest, then shoulders and arms. Finally, scan up your neck and jawline, mouth, nose, cheeks, ears, temples, forehead and scalp. These features allow you to express yourself, connect with others and experience the world.

Let Go

If you notice your thoughts getting critical, that’s okay. Let them come and let them go, like clouds drifting in the sky. Gently guide your mind back to a place of gratitude. As you inhale, imagine filling your body with warmth and love. As you exhale, imagine releasing any tension and any negativity.

Affirm

Take a moment to simply say thank you to your body and with that deep appreciation, say to yourself:

I love my body just as it is.

I am grateful for all the ways my body supports me.

I choose to honor it and appreciate all that it does for me.

I am thankful for my body’s ability to heal, grow, and thrive.

My body is deserving of love, care, and nourishment.

I release judgment and embrace unconditional love for my body.

I trust my body and honor its wisdom.

Close Out

As we bring this meditation to a close, take another deep breath, feeling gratitude for this time you've dedicated to yourself. Wiggle your fingers and toes. Notice how you feel right now. Notice any shifts to your energy, mood or thoughts. Carry this gratitude with you throughout your day, knowing you can always return to this sense of calm and love whenever you need to.
